Layton's Maps
One of the important revisions in the 2nd edition of “The Last First Sergeant” is the addition of Layton's hand-drawn maps. He drew them from memory and research (mainly talking with his fellow soldiers) and very much intended that they be included in the book. We are glad to be able to do that in the 2nd edition to share with our readers. There are additional maps: Normandy, Holland, Bastogne and more. Normandy map shown here.
Letters from War
It is a great honor to be able to share with you a special letter from First Sergeant Layton Black to his wife, Jeanne Black, in Columbus, Ohio. This letter was written May 8, 1945 during his deployment. We hope you enjoy this family treasure and historical artifact.
